SHOWCASE - Librarian in Centurion Armour

Hi all

It's been quite a while since I have posted anything. real life stuff has seemed to get in the way of the hobby I love.

But think I have finally started to get my Mojo back :)

Here is my first finished piece in months now and It feels good to have completed it. Its a conversion for a Flesh Tearers Chapter Librarian in Centurion Armour. I did post a few WIP picture on some Facebook groups that was met with mixed feelings. Most people liked the idea, but a few "poo-pooed" it mainly because it wasn't legal and didn't have any place in the game. As I don't play and only paint its not the end of the world and hey its my hobby surely I can do what he hell I want right? :)

Anyway, here are some picture, what do you think?

SHOWCASE: Inquisitorial Warband

Hey Painters!

So these guys are part of an Inquisitorial Warband I'm working on. I have a few more characters to do plus the Inquisitor of which I am still in the process of deciding how I'm going to do it.  Had lots of fun painting and converting these models as well as their urban rubble bases.

This is my psyker, her name is Argenta Arcarnum (A very rough Latin translation of silver skull). I converted from her from a Dark Elf Sorceress, the face is a spare part from the Cairn Wraith I used in the next model and swaped out the staff head from a Grey Knight warding staff. I have also added some purity seals back and front

This is a Tech-Servant called Lorem Ipsum (Latin for information). I used the Cairn Wraith for the main body of the model and added cables using guitar string. The halberd is a Grey Knight part and the flamer is from a Space Marine Tactical Squad .

The Crusader is named Fidem (Latin for Faith). Converted from a Techpriest Enginseer, I swapped out the ends of his original weapon with two Grey Knight falchions

And lastly this is Gonk Lomex, the Inquistors bodyguard. Chaos Nurgle Lord Body with an Ogre head and a Grey Knight Nemisis Hammer. He will eventually have a brother called Donk too.

SHOWCASE: Dark Angels

Hey Painters!

Been a while since my last post I'm sad to say. In truth I haven't picked up a paint brush in weeks. So in the mean time I thought I would showcase some of older models.

So these are some of my Dark Angels.

Taken from the Dark Vengeance Box Set,
this Sergeant has been slightly converted with a hooded veteran head.

The base is made from cork board which I dipped in sand to give it the gravel surface

Tactical Marine with Plasma Cannon

On source lighting (OSL) on the plasmas coils

This veteran is part or a Command Squad I was working on (still need to finish). The head and weapon have been taken from bits I had from a Blood Angels Death Company kit I have.

Veteran Standard Bearer

Probably my favourite Dark Angels model, I just think he turned out great.

In a Basing Mood.

Hey Painters!

I don't know about you but I tend to work on a couple of projects at the same time. I do this, well because get both easily distracted and bored quickly. So by doing lots different things at the same time to keep me interested.

So couple of weeks ago i bought a load of OOP metal models from someone who works for me. I have been busy stripping them and figuring out how I am going to base them.

Here is what I have done so far.

I am going to go for an ancient ruins look with this one. Lots of overgrown foliage and rubble.

Haven't glued these down yet, but I am really looking forward to painting this one.

That's all.

My current project

Welcome to the next instalment from Old Mini Junky. For this I wanted to show you what I am currently working on, which is a squad of Death Skull Ork Nobz. I have never painted Orks before but after seeing a couple of videos on YouTube I was really inspired.

So I have a few photos the first Ork almost painted. In further blogs I will be showing you step by step how I have been painting these guys. I have to say i really enjoyed painting this Ork and really looking forward to finishing the squad (or should i say Skwod?).

All my Nobz we be weilding close combat weapons and be splattered with blood.

I used GW 'Blood for the Blood God' for this effect.

As they are Death Skulls they will all have war paint some where on their body. I wanted to give the war paint a worn out look so you can see their skin underneath in patches.

You can also see that his armour was once all painted blue, but there are only patches of paint left and rust is starting to form in parts of the arnour and weapon. I'm also really happy how the feace turned out.

So my next blog I will show you how I painted his skin and how I got the tattered war paint effect. I would also love any feedback on what you think of this mini.
See you next time

My First Blog

This is my first blog ever!

So I thought I would give you a short introduction into what I will be talking about.

I am in my late 30's and I'm into painting Games Workshop miniatures, Warhammer 40K in the most part. I got back into painting about 5 years ago after not even picking up a paint brush since being a young teenager. I love the escapism its gives me from the real world as I have a rather demanding job.

I have leant a lot in the last few years and have some great feed back on some of the models I have painted. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to win a golden daemon anytime soon, but I might be able to give you the reader some hints and tips to improve your painting skills.

So in following blogs I will showcase some of the miniatures I have already painted and show you the step by step progress on new projects.

Hope you will follow my blogs and of course leave me comments as to what you think of my work.

See you soon
